Abstrak

This study aims to determine the effect of guided inquiry learning models on students' critical thinking skills in the excretory system material of class XI SMAN 16 Medan Academic Year 2024/2025. This study uses a quasi- experimental design with a Pretest and Posttest Control Group Design. The determination of this sample was carried out using a simple random sampling technique. The sample used 2 classes, namely class XI-Pavo (experimental class) using a guided inquiry learning model and XI-Orion (control class) without an inquiry learning model. The instrument used was a test instrument to measure students' critical thinking skills. Data collection was carried out using interviews, tests, and documentation. The average pretest and posttest data for students' test results in the experimental class were 49 and 84.50 and the control class was 41.17 and 70.47. The data were analyzed by testing the hypothesis using the Independent Sample t-test using SPSS version 24.0. Based on the hypothesis test, the results of the study showed that there was an influence of the guided inquiry learning model on students' critical thinking skills in the excretory system material of class XI SMAN 16 Medan in the academic year 2024/2025. In the experimental class, the n-gain results were 0.77 with a high category and 0.57 with a medium category of n-gain results in the control class. It can be concluded that there is an influence of the guided inquiry learning model on students' critical thinking skills in the excretory system material of class XI SMAN 16 Medan in the academic year 2024/2025.
