Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning model on student learning outcomes in the cognitive aspects of human respiratory system material in class XI Science at SMA Negeri 1 Girsang Sipangan Bolon T.P. 2023/2024. This research uses quasi-experimental research (Quasi Experiment) with a Pretest-Posttest Non-equivalent Control Group Design. The population in this study was all 130 students in class XI Science. Sampling used purposive sampling technique. Class XI IPA 1 consists of 30 people as the experimental class using the Problem Based Learning model and class XI IPA 4 totals 30 people as the control class using conventional learning. Data collection techniques use test instruments. From the research results, the average learning outcome in the experimental class in the form of a posttest was 79.33, while in the control class it was 55.5. Based on the results of the Independent Sample T-Test, a sig value of 0.000 <0.05 was obtained, which means that the Problem Based Learning model has an influence on student learning outcomes in the human respiratory system material.
