Abstract

Pitiriasis versicolor is a superficial fungal infection of the skin caused by Malassezia furfur and is characterized by the presence of macules on the skin, smooth scuama and accompanied by itching. Duku skin (Lansium domesticum Corr.) can be used as an antifungal because it is known to contain secondary metabolite compounds such as terpenoids, flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, and triterpenes (langsat acid/essential oil). The purpose of this study was to measure the growth inhibition of Malassezia furfurs and to determine the compounds contained in the methanol extract of duku skin. This study uses experimental laboratory method with post only control group design research villageign. The results of the study of methanol extract of duku skin at a concentration of 75% produced the largest inhibition zone with an average of 15.3 mm which was characterized by the formation of a clear area formed around the disc. At a concentration of 50%, an inhibition zone of 13 mm was formed and at a concentration of 25%, an inhibition zone of 11mm was formed. The positive control using Ketoconazole 2% produced the largest clear area diameter with an average of 19.3 mm, while the negative control did not form an inhibition zone. This shows that the methanol extract of duku skin can inhibit the growth of Malassezia furfur.
