Abstrak

The low level of scientific literacy among elementary school students indicates that science learning still relies more on memorizing concepts and has not fully connected science to real life. The purpose of this study is to analyze the use of science teaching materials based on the Science, Environment, Technology, and Society (SETS) approach in improving students' scientific literacy. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with a phenomenological approach to various relevant research results. The results show that the use of SETS-based science teaching materials can improve scientific literacy skills that are translated into critical thinking, understanding of scientific concepts, and students' awareness of the relationship between science, technology, the environment, and society. Thus, the application of SETS- based science teaching materials is recommended as an innovative and relevant learning approach to strengthen scientific literacy.
