PERBEDAAN HASIL DAN AKTIVITAS BELAJAR MENGGUNAKAN MODEL DISCOVERY LEARNING DENGAN KOOPERATIF TIPA THINK TALK WRITE PADA MATERI EKOLOGI DI SMP NEGERI 35 MEDAN

This research is motivated by the low learning outcomes and activities of students in Natural Sciences subjects at SMP Negeri 35 Medan caused by the learning process that is still teacher-centered. This condition makes students tend to be passive, do not understand the material, and have not been able to relate learning concepts to everyday life. This study aims to determine the differences in learning outcomes and learning activities of students taught using the Discovery Learning model and the Think Talk Write cooperative learning model on ecology material. The research method used is a quasi- experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample was determined using a purposive sampling technique, namely class VII-5 as the experimental class I taught using the Discovery Learning model and class VII-4 as the experimental class II taught using the Think Talk Write cooperative model. Data were obtained through learning outcome tests and learning activity observation sheets. Data analysis was carried out through normality tests, homogeneity tests, and two- tailed t-tests. The results showed a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) for learning outcomes of 0.604 and for learning activities of 0.542, both greater than 0.05. Based on these results, it was concluded that there was no difference between the learning outcomes and activities of students taught using the two learning models. Thus, the Discovery Learning model and the Think-Talk-Write cooperative learning model were both effective in improving student learning outcomes and activities in ecology at SMP Negeri 35 Medan.
