STUDI LITERATUR: SENYAWA AKTIF JAHE TERHADAP RELAKSASI OTOT SEBAGAI MEDIA EDUKASI PEMBELAJARAN BIOLOGI

Abstrak

This study is a literature review of the active compounds of ginger on muscle relaxation as an educational medium for Biology learning, which aims to examine the role of active compounds in ginger (Zingiber officinale ), especially gingerol and shogaol, on the process of human muscle relaxation, as well as their relevance in Biology learning. The research method used a literature review approach by tracing various national and international scientific articles discussing the physiological, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and muscle relaxation activities of ginger compounds. From the search results of 110 articles, 10 main articles that met the inclusion criteria were obtained for deeper analysis. The results of the study showed that gingerol and shogaol compounds have the ability to suppress the production of prostaglandins that cause pain, improve blood circulation, and help muscle recovery after physical activity. In addition, ginger can be utilized in various dosage forms such as essential oil, warm compresses, and aromatherapy which are effective in reducing muscle tension. In the context of education, this study contributes to the development of Biology learning based on scientific literacy, especially on the topic of the human movement system. Through the integration of research results regarding the active compounds of ginger such as gingerol and shogaol, students can understand the relationship between chemical structure and its biological function in the muscle relaxation process as well as its benefits for human health. This approach is expected to improve critical thinking skills, scientific curiosity, and awareness of the sustainable use of natural resources.
