This study aims to analyze the development of research and the direction of scientific studies on the interaction between mycorrhizae and the roots of Ipomoea batatas through a bibliometric approach, emphasizing its implications for plant growth and resilience. Data were obtained from two major databases with a total of 162 articles, which were then selected using PRISMA guidelines until five relevant articles remained for further analysis. The analysis was conducted using Biblioshiny and VOSviewer software to trace publication trends, author collaboration networks, and the relationship of keywords that frequently appear in related studies. The results of the analysis show a significant increase in publications during the period 2015–2025. Initial studies focused on the genetic and molecular aspects of the symbiotic relationship between mycorrhizae and plant roots, while recent research emphasizes the physiological and applied roles of mycorrhizae, particularly in increasing phosphorus absorption, plant metabolism, and tolerance to abiotic stress. Two research clusters were identified: a molecular genetic cluster and a functional physiological cluster, interconnected through the main theme of arbuscular mycorrhiza. Overall, this study confirms that arbuscular mycorrhizae play a crucial role in strengthening root systems, increasing nutrient uptake efficiency, and supporting more adaptive and sustainable Ipomoea batatas agriculture. Further studies are needed to explore the molecular mechanisms of root colonization and the application of mycorrhizal biotechnology to increase plant productivity under various environmental conditions.
