This study aims to determine the morphological characteristics and yield potential of rice plant lines (Oryza sativa L.) from the AB56e-1 cross, and to test the nutrient content of paddy field soil in Tanjung Morawa, North Sumatra. The study was conducted from May to August 2025 using a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with 24 blocks and four replications. Data were analyzed using ANOVA followed by LSD test when significant differences were found. Results showed significant morphological differences among the three lines. Plant height was recorded at 119.31 cm (AB56e-1), 116.25 cm (Ciherang), and 123.03 cm (Herkules). AB56e-1 had the longest panicle (26.30 cm), widest leaf (1.65 cm), and widest grain (0.41 mm), but flowered latest at 73.87 days. Tiller number and leaf length of AB56e-1 were comparable to Ciherang but lower than Herkules. In terms of yield, AB56e-1 performed lowest across all parameters, with 102.03 spikelets per panicle, 2,593.60 spikelets per plant, a 1,000-grain weight of 22.53 g, and a harvest yield of 37.74 kg, all lower than Ciherang (127.40, 3,475.28, 27.37 g, 43.61 kg) and Herkules (123.68, 3,153.94, 27.34 g, 40.22 kg). Soil nutrient testing revealed low organic matter (0.75) and nitrogen (0.17), with sufficient phosphorus (0.30) and sufficient-to-high potassium (0.50).
