Abstrak

This study aims to determine the effect of Problem Based Learning model assisted by video media on student learning outcomes in ecology material. This study is a type of Quasi Experimental research with a pre-test post-test non-equivalent control group design. The population in this study were all grade VII of SMP Negeri 3 Medan consisting of 11 classes. Sampling in the study used a purposive sampling technique. Class VII-J as the experimental class used the Problem Based Learning model assisted by video media and Class VII-I as the control class used the Problem Based Learning model without video assistance. Data collection was carried out using tests and observations. The instrument used was a multiple-choice learning outcome test of 20 questions, which had been validated. The results of the study showed that the average pre-test and post-test scores in the experimental class were 40 and 80.31 and in the control class were 39 and 74.21. Hypothesis testing using a one-tailed t-test showed that tcount> ttable (3.27> 1.67). Based on the hypothesis test, it was found that there was an influence of the Problem Based Learning model assisted by video media on student learning outcomes in ecology material at SMP Negeri 3 Medan.
