The issue of biodiversity loss is one of the critical problems in conservation education at the secondary school level, as students' understanding is often still focused only on the cognitive aspect and does not sufficiently reach the affective and reflective aspects. This study aims to investigate students' representations regarding the issue of biodiversity loss in Biology lessons at SMA Negeri 2 Medan. The method used is qualitative with a case study approach. The research sample consisted of 10 students from grade X and one Biology teacher selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis, which were then analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings indicate that students' representations concerning the issue of biodiversity loss were identified across five main aspects, namely conceptual, affective, reflective, creative, and technoscience. Students generally understood the factors driving biodiversity decline, such as deforestation, poaching, and climate change, and demonstrated a high level of empathy and concern for the environment. Teachers play a crucial role in shaping these representations through scientific approaches, project-based learning, and the use of digital media. However, obstacles still exist in terms of habits, interests, and support from the social environment. Overall, contextual and reflective conservation learning has been shown to enhance ecological awareness and strengthen students' positive perspectives on the issue of biodiversity loss.
