PEMANFAATAN TANAMAN DALAM MINYAK KARO DAN POTENSI KEGUNAANNYA OLEH MASYARAKAT DESA BATU JONGJONG

Abstrak

Karo Oil is a traditional product passed down through generations by the Batak Karo community in North Sumatra, playing a significant role in traditional medicinal practices. This study aims to identify the types of plants used as raw materials in the production of Karo Oil and its utilization among the community in Batu Jongjong Village, Bahorok District. The research method employed is descriptive qualitative, with interviews and respondent selection conducted using purposive sampling techniques. The results of the study indicate that 51 plant species from 28 families are utilized in the production of Karo Oil, with the Zingiberaceae, Solanaceae, Arecaceae, and Lamiaceae families being the most represented. The most commonly used plant part is the leaf (58.8%), and the primary source of plant acquisition is from fields (74.5%). The community primarily uses Karo Oil for medicinal purposes, such as treating muscle aches, wounds, colds, insect bites, toothaches, fevers, and broken bones.
